Nebraska Bonsai Society’s February study group and meeting will be held next Sunday, 2/18 from 1-5 p.m. at Lauritzen Garden’s adult classroom (100 Bancroft St., Omaha).
This month, Linda will kick off the meeting with a presentation on enjoying indoor Bonsai while waiting for Spring. Carol and Linda will show lesser-used forms of Bonsai and related subjects to help you have year-around enjoyment of this fascinating hobby. We will have display plants and a demonstration of “Saikei” – living landscapes in miniature.
It will be a fun presentation followed by the usual workshop. Recognizing the weather doesn’t encourage bringing plants out, we encourage adventuresome members with plants and questions. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Reminders: There are still a few slots for Todd Schlafer’s Workshops, Feb. 24&25. In addition, this year’s Novice Workshop is open for registration (attaching the notice again here in case you missed the special email this past weekend). Lastly, if you haven’t already renewed, it is time to pay annual membership dues. This is a great time to take care of all that business.
It’s also a great time to volunteer for the spring show: The NBS Board is excited we will be holding a joint spring show with the Ikebana Society, May 6-8. Our exhibit will be at the top of the Conservatory. We will, of course, need trees to display. We’ll also have a sale table, as we do in the fall. And please block off some time to volunteer at the show. You’ll receive an email with details soon.
